People And Planet Day
Celebrating People and Planet
A Day of Compassion, Awareness, and Unity
At the serene grounds of Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission in Rajarhat–Newtown, a powerful and heartwarming celebration unfolded—the People Planet Day, organized by the Silico Seva Mandir Foundation, in collaboration with NelsonIQ and Siddharth Mission. This grand event brought together communities, organizations, and individuals with one shared purpose: to honor the deep connection between humanity and nature, and to renew our commitment to a more compassionate and sustainable future.
A Soulful Beginning: Words of Unity and Hope
Silico Seva Mandir Foundation
The event commenced with a beautiful invocation, welcoming all respected guests, friends, and well-wishers with warmth and reverence. The Silico Seva Mandir Foundation, inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, reaffirmed its mission: "To serve humanity is to serve God." The Foundation has been consistently working at the grassroots level through initiatives like:
• এক স্বপ্ন পাঠশালা for children
• Digital and handicraft training for women
• Tree plantation drives
• Rural health camps
• Disaster relief
• Environmental awareness programs
Their goal is simple but profound: to build a bridge between people, nature, and technology.
Honoring the Spirit of Humanity
The People Planet Day is not just an event; it is a call to action. It is a reminder that:
"Nature and humanity are interdependent. We cannot thrive if we neglect our environment."
In this light, NelsonIQ, through their global initiative Quest for Next, stepped forward to support the cause. Their partnership symbolizes a growing corporate consciousness toward sustainability and inclusive development.
Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission, the venue partner, is a living testimony of compassion. Led by Ven. Buddha Priya Mahathera, the organization has been nurturing over a hundred orphaned and tribal boys since 1992, offering them shelter, education, and hope. The very ground where the event was held breathed the essence of selfless service.
Cultural Performances Rooted in Meaning
The event was rich with soulful performances and thematic presentations that blended culture, spirituality, and environmental concern:
✨ Poetic Invocation for Rath Yatra:
A beautiful recitation on Rath Yatra paid homage to Lord Jagannath and the sacred journey of the deities.
🌍 "Amader Ae Boshundhora":
A moving presentation about the destruction of nature and the call to restore our planet. The poetic essence of Tagore and Jibanananda Das echoed deeply through the hearts of all.
🌳 "Barsha Baran" (Welcoming Monsoon):
With music, dance, and monsoon motifs, this event celebrated nature's life-giving force while reminding us of our duty to preserve it.
🌳 "We Are the World" - Afforestation and Youth Awareness:
A powerful segment dedicated to educating the younger generation about afforestation. Stationery kits were distributed among children as part of a Saraswati Vandana segment, highlighting the importance of knowledge and nature.
🎼 Upagupta Nritya Natya:
This dance drama based on Rabindranath Tagore's interpretation of the Buddhist tale of Upagupta and Vasavadatta portrayed the triumph of compassion and spiritual truth over worldly desires.
🌿 Odissi Dance Performance for Sri Jagannath Dev:
A divine performance to honor Lord Jagannath, rooted in the temple traditions of Odisha, brought a spiritual resonance to the program.
Felicitation and Final Thoughts
The event also included a heartfelt felicitation ceremony to honor those who work selflessly for society and nature. Each award was more than a token—it was a promise of collective responsibility.
Gratitude and the Road Ahead
The event closed with a note of gratitude from the organizers:
“Thank you for being part of this journey. Your presence made it meaningful. Together, let us move towards building a more compassionate, responsible, and environmentally aware society.”
